Ohio Senate President Announces 400 New Jobs in Western Ohio

COLUMBUS– Senate President Keith Faber (R–Celina) recently joined Ohio Governor John Kasich at the Whirlpool corporation facility in Greenville, Ohio to announce the creation of 400 new jobs.

The event coincided with the formal announcement at Whirlpool’s headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.

“The word is out and companies from around the globe are finding out that Ohio is serious about strengthening private sector businesses and creating jobs,” said Faber. “For the past few years, we’ve been working together to streamline regulations and get our fiscal house in order to make our state the most attractive place in the nation to live, work, and raise a family.”

In addition to the 400 new jobs, Whirlpool will nearly double the size of their current facility, expanding from 250,000 square feet to 450,000 square feet. Groundbreaking on the expansion will take place in May 2014.

Whirlpool’s announcement comes on the heels of Ohio’s recent employment report showing the state has created more than 238,000 private sector jobs since January 2011. The statewide unemployment rating has dropped to 6.9 percent.

In the last year, Ohio has also been recognized by three national publications as having the most improved business climate in the nation and a study by George Mason University ranked the state’s fiscal condition among the top ten states in the nation.
